A life changing, addicting experience she credits for opening up a newer, even more adventurous side of travel that she can't seem to get enough of.
Whether she’s helping set up camp, searching for wildlife, or cracking jokes around the fire, Emily keeps the energy high and the laughter flowing.

Self Defense & Prevention Expert
Carrie Conrad
Carrie is a dedicated self defense and prevention expert and founder of Beating Disaster, a Detroit based, specialty school offering niche training in prevention, protection and defense for women, children and families.
She’s the creator of Mama Bear PREPARED™, online content, coaching and community focusing on empowering moms to protect their children and raise kids to be safe.
It was an unfortunate life experience that turned a passion for teaching karate into providing training with a focus on mindset, prevention and less violent defense options in order to better prepare women and children to protect themselves in their relationships - the more frequent, overlooked and often unreported causes of harm. In recent years, she’s becoming more known for empowering mothers through their own histories of trauma to trust themselves and tap into their inner mama bear.
Though still teaching karate and offering hands-on training, more time is spent empowering mothers in prevention through private coaching, wellness retreats and public speaking on concerns relating to empowerment, personal development and recovering from victimhood.
